Wind power passes 6 GW in UK

According to the trade association of renewable energy in UK, the national wind sector has hit a landmark 6 GW of installed capacity, enough to generate power to 3,354,893 homes. The Renewable UK’s Chief Executive, Mari Mc Caffery said this is a national achievement and there’s a further 19.5 GW of capacity under construction, consented or in planning.

It is official: Turkey approves the construction of South Stream pipeline

Turkey has announced in December that it gives all necessary approvals for the South Stream pipeline project, allowing the construction to proceed and to be executed on schedule, before the end of 2015. The news was officially confirmed by Moscow on January, 9, stating that the pipeline will be built through Turkey’s Black Sea exclusive economic zone, en route to central Europe.

SPI Solar to build a 2 MW solar energy facility in Greece

EBRD loans 45 million euros to Serbian hydropower

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development approved a 45 million euros loan for the Serbian state-owned company, Elecktroprivreda Srbije (EPS), which will be allotted for building seven new hydropower plants and for modernizing 15 existing small hydropower ones.

Google to invest $94 million in 4 solar projects

Google, the American multinational internet and Software Corporation, has recently announced a major investment in clean energy sector. The investment of $94 million will be allocated for the construction of four solar photovoltaic projects near California, Sacramento, bringing the company’s portfolio of clean energy projects to almost $1 billion.
