Brent crude futures ended higher, after a drop in two sessions in a row, supported by the government data indicating a deep fall in gasoline stockpiles and the investors’ worries on lasting turmoil in Libya. ICE Brent May crude traded at 122.88 dollars a barrel, up 1.96 dollars, ahead the expiration of the May contract on Thursday.

U.S. crude oil futures saw little change on Tuesday in the post-settlement trade, after the American Petroleum Institute data revealed a slightly more than expected increase of oil inventories, while gasoline stocks fell much more as forecasted.

Oil prices traded down on Monday on demand worries and profit taking after U.S. crude oil prices hit a 30-month high and Brent prices hit a 32-month high. U.S. crude for May delivery traded at 109.92 dollars, down 2.87 dollars, while Brent crude was traded at 123.98 dollars a barrel, down 2.67 dollars.

U.S. crude prices increased more than 1 dollar to a new 2-1/2 year high level on Friday on outlook of long-term supply cuts in Libya. Crude for May delivery increased to an intraday high level of 111.39 dollars a barrel, the utmost level since September 2008.
