Daily: European spot power prices jump on colder weather forecasts
Brent crude oil futures settled below $118 per barrel on Monday backed by expectations of improving global growth and continuing tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude dropped 20 cents at $117.46 a barrel by 15:18 GMT after recording its first weekly loss since the first half of January. Meanwhile, U.S. crude shed 24 cents to $95.62.

Iberdrola gets the green light to build a new wind complex in Scotland
Iberdrola, through its UK arm ScottishPower Renewables, has got the green light from the Scottish Government for the construction of wind complex Kilgallioch, whose development will require an investment of about 465 million euros.

Turkey to start construction of its first nuclear power plant in 2014
Stating to the Director General of Akkuyu NGS A.S. Alexander Superfin, the construction of the first nuclear power plant Akkuyu in Turkey will start in early 2014. The preparation of an ecological report on the project’s impact on the environment will be completed in May 2013.

China installed almost 16 GW of wind power in 2012
According to data offered by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, in 2012, China was the world’s largest wind market in terms of annual installed capacity. The country installed 15.9GW of onshore turbines, or about 35% of the world’s new onshore capacity.
