Germany confirms 7.5 GW of new solar installed in 2011
The earlier released reports by the German Federal Network Agency indicated that 3 GW of new solar power were installed in Germany in December alone, defining a monthly record in the Federal country. German Federal Network Agency confirmed earlier appraisal that in 2011, a 7.5GW capacity of solar was installed in Germany. This surpassed even the US total new installed capacity of 1,855 MW in 2011.

Spain halts the award of new feed-in tariff contracts
The new center-right Spanish government decided to halt temporarily the award of new feed-in tariff contracts starting January 2013 amid rising fiscal challenges.
