U.S. solar industry up 109% in 2011

The U.S. solar energy industry installed a record of 1,855 MW of photovoltaic capacity in 2011, as revealed by a new U.S. Solar Market Insight report. The figure is more than the double of the previous annual record of 887 MW set in 2010 and represents a 109 % growth rate in 2011.

GE to buy a stake for 100 million dollars in a US PV project

According to Chief Executive Officer, Alex Urquhart, has recently announced that GE EFS has bought a stake in a large PV project for 100 million dollars. The new investment will give GE EFS a stake in the 127 MW Arlington Valley Solar Energy II plant which is being constructed in Arizona by LS Power.

Spain leaves renewable top 10 to curb its budget deficit

Spain, known as the top-ranked renewable energy market for investors, is leaving the top 10 after the Spanish government has decided to suspend all subsidies for renewable energy projects, with immediate effect, meaning it will no longer provide subsidies for new wind, solar, co-generation or waste incineration projects.
