Oil prices posted a sharp decline by about 4% on Tuesday, hitting a 6-month low, weighed down by fears of an oversupply of crude, a gloomy global economic outlook and US inflation that is not slowing down as easily. The Fed, the ECB and the BoE are all set to unveil interest rate decisions this week as investors await their impact on the global economy and oil demand. National Grid has announced a wide range of policies and investments aimed at upgrading the U.K. and U.S. grid systems and tackling the backlog of energy projects waiting to be connected. While this is optimistic for the energy infrastructure of the two countries, climate activists are concerned that some of the moves may deter investment in renewable energy projects as the connectivity outlook remains uncertain. In addition, energy experts have repeatedly stated the enormous magnitude of the task of upgrading the U.K. and U.S. grid systems, with a multitude of challenges standing in the way of achieving the goal.

Oil prices climbed on Monday, propelled by the publication of OPEC+'s monthly report aimed at mitigating "exaggerated negative sentiments" regarding the global oil demand outlook. As a result, both contracts rose by about 1.4%. Brent crude settled at $82.52 per barrel, while WTI crude ended at $78.26 per barrel.
