Centrica: wholesale gas cost could rise by 15% next winter

Millions of households in the UK could face higher energy bills next winter after Centrica, the owner of British Gas said that the gas costs could rise by 15%, while other costs would add another £50 to the cost of supplying energy to the average home probably by the end of the summer.

China to invest in UK’s nuclear plants

Two Chinese state-owned energy companies are interested in buying E.ON and RWE's UK nuclear joint venture Horizon which was put up for sale in March, as China envisages building a huge number of new nuclear plants on its own territory, to replace some of its old and heavily polluting coal plants.

Spain wind energy reaches 60.5% demand

According to national grid manager REE, Spain’s wind parks provided a record 60.46 percent of demand for power early on Monday, following a windy weekend that pushed wholesale power prices to their lowest levels in more than two years.
