Oil prices fell on Thursday, following the announcement that China started using its internal strategic crude reserves in order to counteract the rising energy prices. Despite a drop in US crude and gasoline stocks, Brent oil lost 1.6% to end at $71.45 a barrel. WTI crude closed 1.7% lower at $68.14 a barrel.

Daily (02.09.2021): European carbon prices lost 1% on Wednesday, tracking a bearish energy complex

Crude oil prices diverged on Wednesday. The Brent benchmark lost nearly 2% at $71.59 a barrel, as OPEC+ members confirmed their strategy of increasing production by 400.000 bpd in October. WTI oil edged higher, as a weekly decrease in US crude stocks limited losses. As such, WTI edged 0.1% higher at $68.59 a barrel.

Daily (19.08.2021): Oil prices lost more than 1% on Wednesday, following an increase in US gasoline stocks

Crude oil prices weakened on Wednesday, weighed by an increase in US weekly gasoline stocks, as indicated by the EIA. Despite a decline in US crude reserves, Brent oil fell by 1.2% to $68.23 a barrel and WTI crude ended 1.7% lower at $65.46 a barrel.

Daily (16.07.2021): Crude oil prices extended losses on Thursday on expectations for increased supplies

Crude oil prices continued to fall on Thursday on expectation for an increase in supply after Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had reached a compromise deal. Moreover, U.S. fuel stocks rose, providing additional pressure to prices. As such, Brent crude fell by 1.7% to settle at $73.47 a barrel. The American WTI shed by 2% to end at 71.65 p/therm.
