U.S: Solar PV industry installs 684 MW in the third quarter of 2012
According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, about 684 MW of solar PV capacity was installed in the third quarter of 2012, up 44% in comparison to the same period of 2011. In the first 10 months of 2012 solar alone increased by 133%, with total U.S. solar PV power capacity amounting now over 5900 MW, with 1.2 gigawatts of solar photovoltaics installed, bringing 2012 installations to 3.2 gigawatts, enough to supply with power about 1 million households.

IBC solar completes 5 MW PV plant in Italy
German photovoltaic (PV) systems provider IBC Solar AG today revealed that it had installed and attached to the grid a 5 MW PV plant in Maniago, northern Italy, in a record of 49 days, working as the general contractor of the project.

EDF has completed Europe’s biggest PV plant in France
EDF Energies Nouvelles has completed the Toul- Rosierès photovoltaic plant in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department of eastern France. The 115 MW plant comprises about 1.4 million thin film photovoltaic panels produced by U.S. manufacturer First Solar, and is likely to produce enough energy to heat the houses of about 55,000 people.

UK: Westmill Solar plant goes cooperative
UK-based community group Westmill Solar Cooperative completed its acquisition of the 5 megawatt (MW) Westmill solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, making it the largest collectively-owned PV plant in the world, comprising over 20,000 solar PV panels spread across 30a.
