Crude oil futures increased on Tuesday on the closure of a pipeline transporting crude from Canada to US and on dollar decrease on renewed hopes for a debt bailout plan for Greece. NYMEX crude for July delivery settled at 102.70 dollars a barrel, up 2.11 dollars, while ICE Brent crude increased by 2.05 to 116.73 dollars a barrel, after a trading range between 114.50 and 116.73 dollars.

Crippled Fukushima nuclear plant hit by an explosion

According to Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) declarations an oil leak and a small explosion occurred on Tuesday at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, crippled already by the earthquake and tsunami of March, 11th.

Iran and Armenia to boost energy cooperation

The Iranian newspaper Teheran Times reported that Iran and Armenia will start the construction of a third electricity transmission line between the two countries within two weeks. The project is estimated to cost about $110 million and will have a capacity of 800-900MW between the two countries.

U.S. crude oil futures were almost steady on Monday, near the two-week high registered last week as American financial markets were closed due to the Memorial Day holiday. By 23:01 GMT, NYMEX crude for July delivery rose 2 cents at $100.61 a barrel. The contract settled at $100.59 a barrel on Friday, up 36 cents.

Can Germany afford to decommission all nuclear plants by 2022?
